Generally
 
  1. Bail agents may not have a felony conviction.
  2. All bail agents must be licensed in the State from which they do business.
  3. Bail Agents act under State and federal laws.
  4. Bail agents have arrest powers similar to police.
  5. New York State bail enforcement agents are required to complete a 25 hour certification course and carry a liability bond unless working under a licensed private investigator.
